One of my favorite shows is House Hunters, especially the international episodes. Not only am I fascinated by the beautiful locations, I love the freedom to travel and the absence of pressure or control imposed by work. The possibilities to live the life you dream, inspires me and that is my goal. I anticipate severing ties with my places of employment and working independently with the work that moves me.
Visions of aspiration varies for each individual, so the act of comparison is often unfulfilling and defeating.
I often avoid comparing my life to others, but I shamelessly admire, or allow myself to be inspired.
What others have may not necessarily be what you want, but dig deep to consider that your denial of this admiration may be frustrating and turn into envy. You may deny this admiration if you don't feel someone else is deserving of their blessings or happiness and minimize their achievements, or pretend you don't notice when you do.
The root of this behavior is often repressed pain and the persistent hurt that exists.
Upon our arrival into this world, we had needs for attachments, validation, and feeling that you belong. When those needs are not met, it can be crippling and create difficulty understanding how others thrive, while you are gasping for air.
The life you want begins with your emotional well being. Ask yourself where you are on that path.
Check in each time your hurt overflows into your relationships with others and with yourself.
This doesn't make you a bad person but your hurt may be the driving force for bad behavior and negative thoughts.
Again, knowing the life you want is directly connected to your needs, and knowing what those needs are requires self reflection.
I always encourage journaling for such introspective tasks, as simply thinking about this can be overwhelming, while writing can organize thoughts and feelings.
This may all seem easier said than done but it's in fact
not easy, it's a journey and it's can be a vulnerable one. The life you want exists, but the road to this life requires nursing your pain and nurturing your goals.
What life do you want to live and what are your needs to get there?
