10/11/18 is National Depression Screening Day, during Mental Illness Awareness Week

Updated: Feb 9, 2019

The stigma of mental illness plagues Black women at alarming rates, and we continue to suffer in silence for multiple reasons, such as; appearing weak, appearing as lacking faith, or due to the taboo of discussing private matters to others. While there is value in creating healthy boundaries and not allowing everyone to have access to you, it is important to have access to what your soul needs. In honor of National Depression Screening Day 10/11/18 during Mental Illness Awareness Week, I am including a few resources designed for women of color to aid in the process of seeking a mental health professional, who can screen for depression among other concerns.
